Airy and Light: Zenith Gets Ready for Summer with Defy Skyline White Ceramic Skeleton
In 2022, Zenith unveiled its vision of a contemporary luxury sports watch with the Defy Skyline. Based on a historic model from 1969 in the original Defy, the form of the modern watch combines an unmistakable design with the functionality and sophistication of the legendary El Primero high-frequency caliber updated with a unique 1/10th-second sub-dial.
Today, the Defy Skyline family includes three-hand watches, each with a beautiful star symbol on the dial, as well as models with complications such as a chronograph or a high-frequency tourbillon. There is also a skeleton version with a stunning openwork dial, available in stainless steel and black ceramic.
Just in time for summer, Zenith has now introduced the Defy Skyline Skeleton in white ceramic combined with a luminescent blue dial. With alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces, the highly scratch-resistant case and signature 12-sided bezel offer a striking interpretation of the Defy silhouette. The 41 mm case is water-resistant to 100 meters.

The white ceramic exterior of this new Defy Skyline Skeleton is complemented by an intense blue skeleton movement, which is fully on display through the open-worked dial. Constantly changing with the light and revealing different shades of blue, it takes on the shape of Zenith’s famous four-pointed star from 1969, a recurring motif in the history of the Defy line.

The dial reveals the open El Primero 3620 SK movement beneath, which is also finished in the brand’s signature blue, evocative of the night sky. In place of a traditional seconds sub-dial, the Defy Skyline features the stunning constant 1/10th of a second running indicator at 6 o’clock, which completes one revolution every 10 seconds, and is driven directly by the 5Hz escapement. The self-winding manufacture movement features a silicon escape-wheel and lever, a power reserve of approximately 55 hours and is endowed with a stop-second mechanism for precise time-setting.
The Defy Skyline Skeleton in White Ceramic is attached with an interchangeable ceramic bracelet and priced at $17,500.
