Say Hi to...Tara!

0

So Tara has been on our radar for a while - she even came second in our Instagram comp!  She's a spunky wee lady from the depths of Kerry, who skates as much as she can, where ever she can. More often than not you will see her on her driveway with a nice (if a bit sketchy) DIY set up.

Being so far away we've yet to get down to Tara for a sesh (soon...we're working on it!) so we've been emailing/instagraming back and forth for a while.  She's always raring to go and sends in some awesome clips so I figured we'd ask her a few questions to see what motivates her to keep skating and learning despite the lack of local spots.

Check out her interview below and a wee vid of her skating.

1: When did you start skating?

I got a skateboard for my 10th birthday and the rest is history :D

2: What's your favourite trick?

I don't really have a favourite trick I like kickflips but I also love double flips. I also like tre flips...I've landed 2!

3: Who do you normally skate with?

My sister Isabelle, my cousin Thomas, and sometimes his friend Jack

4: Who's your favourite skater?

I don't really have a favourite skater either, I like Cian Eades because he's really good and I met him but I also like Chris Cole, and jaws of course :D it changes every week really

5: Have you ever travelled for skating or skated anywhere not in Ireland?

If never travelled especially for skating but if skated in Spain a few times and France once. It was good skating around and finding new spots but I got kicked out a lot, probably not more than Ireland though.

6: Where's your favourite park?

It used to be Cork City Skatepark in cork by far before it shut down now I'd say Raw Cycles in Limerick and the Mardkye in Cork

7: Where's your favourite spot?

Probably Inchadoney in Cork, it's got a bunch of stairs sets and gaps and I don't get to skate gaps that often so it's fun when I got there, in Killarney they have  ledges but they're right by the Garda station

Sometimes I get stuck for spots like a few months ago I was trying to get an ender for a video and I didn't want to have it in the driveway so I was kind of stuck trying to find a skate able stair set or something (she eventually found a 5 stair to kickflip)

8: Can you tell me one random fact about yourself?

I got to the all Ireland spikeball final last year with my school ! (I had to check what spike ball was and apparently its kinda like volley ball but instead of hitting the ball twice and over the net you catch it after one hit. Sounds pretty hard to me! )

Thanks for chatting with me Tara, we will get down to you soon for a roll!

If anyone wants to submit video clips to us you can email them to us or #girlskateireland on Instagram.
