NBA: Denver Nuggets at Cleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland has now lost nine straight games.

Some things did go right for the Cavs on Friday night. But when Jamal Murray drops 50 points, a few things going right isn’t good enough.

Cleveland lost 120-103 to the Nuggets at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse as Murray dropped one of the most efficient 50-point game in NBA history on 21-25 shooting overall. He was also 8-10 on three-pointers and scored 30 of his 50 in the second half.

With the loss, the Cavs have lost nine consecutive games. Their last win came on Feb. 1 against the Timberwolves. Only one loss since that win has been a single-digit loss.

As a team, Denver shot 57.5% from the field and 15-31 from three. To go along with Murray’s 50, Michael Porter Jr. had 22 points — all of which came in the first half — and Nikola Jokic had 16 as part of a 16-point, 12-rebound, 10-assist triple double.

For Cleveland, Collin Sexton had 23 points, Jarrett Allen had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Darius Garland and Isaac Okoro both had 14 points. Okoro’s 14 are a new career high, beating the 13 points he scored on Jan. 15 and Jan. 31 against the Knicks and Timberwolves, respectively. He was also 3-6 from deep, an encouraging sign.

As team, Cleveland had its third-highest assist total of the season with 30. That accounted for all but nine of the team’s made shots. Cedi Osman led the team with 7 assists, while Garland added five.
