The Lakers have officially signed former Clippers big man Montrezl Harrell for the full mid-level exception (MLE), in a stunning turn of events during free agency.

Harrell — the reigning Sixth Man of the Year and a player who averaged 18.6 points per game while shooting 58% from the field last season — brings a dynamic skillset to the Lakers, brimming with energy and relentless competitive drive.

So there you go — Harrell’s deadly finishing ability in the pick and roll, his quick handle combined with his lateral quickness and sheer power, variety of ways to finish at the rim and willingness to constantly get out on the offensive break, all combined with his relentless motor and energy adds a dynamic skillset and potential force to this Lakers team. Harrell is the type of player that they don’t currently have, and will add another layer to the team.

Further, Harrell has shown key physical skills and attributes on the defensive end that when combined with the Lakers’ defensive coaching and identity and versatile defenders around him could quite plausibly make him a plus defender.
