‘Great Food Truck Race’ shooting in San Francisco — and you’re invited to join the fun

“The Great Food Truck Race” is coming to San Francisco and the public is welcome to drop by and chow down.

The popular Food Network series began filming all six episodes of its upcoming season in the city by the bay this week. It’s the first time an entire season of the reality competition is being shot in a single city.

“This is an ideal location for this program,” said Joe D’Alessandro, president and CEO of San Francisco Travel, in a statement. “San Francisco is one of the top culinary cities in the world. Food trucks are already part of our culture, with loyal followers on top of the latest in mobile cuisine.”

The series, which launched in 2010, has food-truck teams competing against each other to make the best dishes and raise the most money in a series of challenges. The winner takes home $50,000.

The program is hosted by celebrity chef and restauranteur Tyler Florence who owns Wayfare Tavern in San Francisco and lives with his family in Mill Valley.

All of the food trucks competing in San Francisco are winners of previous contests:

— The Lime Truck @thelimetruck

— Seoul Sausage @seoulsausage

— Aloha Plate @alohaplate

— Waffle Love @wafflelovesocal

— The Middle Feast @themiddlefeast

— NOLA Creations @nolacreations504

— Mystikka Masala @mystikkamasalafoodtruck.

The public is invited to come out and do their own taste testing. You can track the locations of the trucks, as well as the dates when they are open, by following the individual trucks on social media.

According to San Francisco Travel, the show’s producers are working closely with city health officials to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines.
