NYC U25 J80 Squad – Expression of Interest Form
We are looking for members to form the U25 J80 squad. This form is to express interest and to confirm availability. Expressions of interest are open to ALL members between the ages of 16 and 25, regardless of experience or what boat you sail.Once details have been confirmed with the club we will organize a Zoom with further details of the proposed squad and invite people to apply, after which selection will occur.
There will be 5 team members (plus 1 or 2 subs)
The rough plan:
– Campaign a J80 as a team this Summer
– Train weekly with the team
– Race at the following competitions (J80 Nationals, ICRA’s, DL Week)
– Spend time maintaining and managing the boat as a team.
– Volunteer in the National Yacht Club (What this involves will be outlined clearly before being asked to
commit)
– Members of the team may be asked to make a contribution to the team which will go towards entering
events, maintaining the boat and other costs. We will work to keep these low using grants and the team will have the support of the U25 Committee and other representatives. The amount of this contribution will be outlined before members are asked to commit
Please bear in mind that this opportunity is numbers dependent and there will be a selection process for the NYC U25 J80 Squad.
