The Summer Regatta in Berlin
The VSaW in Berlin hosted the third 5.5m Key-Regatta in Germany, offering a 3-day event on Wannsee & Havel. International participation (AUS, AUT, NED, GER) & boats from all categories, plus an excellent on-shore programme by the hosting Club as well as sunshine & wind provided a perfect scenery.
A special welcome was given to 5.5 NED 20 Firestorm & Crew, returning to racing after many years. Also on the starting line, 5.5 GER 2 Berlin, a 1952 5.5mR boat. To these several Evolution boats were added and the Modern segment was present with AUS 63 & GER 79.
Friday offered a long-distance regatta - Willi Lehmann Preis - on the Havel, getting to know the picturesque Berlin surroundings, category winners were AUS 63, GER 84 & GER 2. Saturday & Sunday was seeing ambitious up&downs – Berliner Bär - with partially demanding conditions. Winners of the perpetual trophies were GER 79, GER 84 & GER 2.
