U20 Report

OW U20s 28, UCD 31. Our 20s continue to show their battling spirit to take 2 bonus points away from Belfield on Sunday. The lads are effectively an U19s team as we don’t have the experience of a 2nd year group rolling into this season. But that doesn’t stop them. In a 59 point thriller, Wes went at the students from the start, with Louis LeStrange scoring on 7 minutes. A physical UCD side struck back with two tries before Jack Duffy scorched through to make it 14.14 at half time. A heavier UCD bench saw them stretch our resources in the 2nd half, but we bravely went toe to toe with Louis LeStrange grabbing a second try. UCD scored two of their own against the run of play but with the clock winding down, Jack Duffy completed his brace. We were hammering away in UCD’s 22 when the final whistle went but alas our reward was just 2 bonus points. Brilliant squad performance but special mention to our #10 Andrew McAdam converting 4 from 4 conversions in difficult conditions. After a lengthy chat, the coaches awarded the MOTM award to Jack Duffy, but many more were deserving of the award and their time will come. Next up Galwegians RFC this Sunday in Donnybrook, KO 2.30.
