Pontypridd v Llanelli Wanderers – Match Preview

0 69

On Saturday 8th November Sardis Road will host a first ever encounter between Pontypridd RFC and Llanelli Wanderers RFC. The Admiral Premiership match between the two clubs will kick off will be 2:30pm.

For Ponty it’ll be very much trying to get back to winning ways after defeat away against Neath last Saturday, whilst the Wanderers will head into tomorrow’s encounter buoyed by an excellent 31-24 win against Bargoed last weekend.

Despite defeat last time out the Valley Commandos remain top of the Premiership standings, and will be hoping to earn the victory which will keep them there this weekend. Llanelli Wanderers currently sit in 8th and will be looking for the win to propel them up the league in what is their first ever season in their history at this level.

TEAM NEWS:

Pontypridd are counting the cost of some recent bruising encounters with more personnel being admitted into the Sardis Road treatment room. However, we are pleased to welcome back some longer term injuries which also happen to be summer signings who have yet to feature in a competitive match for the Club.

Kristian Parker and his coaching team have made five changes to the XV that started at Neath last week, and there are four new faces amongst the substitutes as well.

In the backline Joe Davies returns on the wing, Lloyd Dennett earns his first start for the club at scrum-half and there’s a debut for summer signing Jack Davies at outside centre.

In the pack Louis Tovey returns and starts at hooker, whilst Lloyd Riley, who continues on permit from Pontypool, starts at second row.

On the bench Garyn Daniel returns having pulled out of last week’s match at the 11th hour due to injury. Joe Miles has recovered from a recent knock to return to the matchday squad and Lucus Welsh has once again returned this week on permit from Newport. The fourth and final new face amongst the replacements is Charlie Hancock – another summer signing who has made a welcome return from injury and could also make his Ponty debut.

Unavailable for selection due to injury are Kristian Parker, Ben Drew, Oli Shepherd, Jordan Coxley, Callum Coxley, Stuart Floyd-Ellis, Iwan Griffith and Louis Rochefort-Shugar, whilst recently announced new signing Joe Blackburn is on leave.

15. Dale Stuckey. 14. Joe Davies. 13. Jack Davies. 12. Garyn Smith. 11. George Thorrington. 10. Jorge Lucey. 9. Lloyd Dennett.

1. Ben Stephens. 2. Louis Tovey. 3. Kian Mattravers. 4. Mitch Barnard. 5. Lloyd Riley. 6. Cai James. 7. Cally James (c). 8. Iestyn Harris.
