Confidas People front and centre of Heriot’s Rugby Club bespoke training shirts
Bespoke Heriot’s Rugby Club kit is now officially available online with Confidas People sponsoring the training shirts for all squads.
As a business Confidas People provide management team assessments as part of due diligence and value creation for private equity and venture capital firms.
Confidas People Director Bruce Douglas, a former Scotland player and Heriot’s Rugby player and coach, believes businesses providing sponsorship at a local level is a way to develop the game in Scotland.
‘‘Clubs like Heriot’s are the bedrock of Scottish rugby. There will be future internationalists of the men’s and women’s game who will come through the club, but the club offers so much more,’’ he said.
‘‘Social players, supporters, administrators and coaches, a thriving junior section and an opportunity to network and collaborate with local businesses all comes from Heriot’s one club mentality.
‘‘For sponsors it is an opportunity to support a great cub, the lunches before matches are nice ways to entertain clients or team members and the network the club has is impressive and influential, and really supportive of those who support the club.’’
Now restrictions have eased the bespoke Heriot’s Rugby kit has been visible at Goldenacre since late-March when the Heriot’s Rugby Super6 Squad began pre-season.
Last week, the Blues squads also began off-season running sessions building towards mixed touch training when Covid-19 restrictions allow.
‘‘It is a shame the players didn’t get much use out of the kit this year due to lockdown, but we would love to support the club again next year,’’ Bruce said.
‘‘I have been coming to Goldenacre since I was four years old, having done the scoreboard, sold programmes, been a ball boy, played for the club for four years winning two league titles.
After a 16-year career in professional rugby as both a player and coach, Bruce returned to Heriot’s to coach the first team before the requirements of Confidas People became too demanding.
It is during his time as a coach that he formed some of his favourite Goldenacre memories, including watching from the stands as Heriot’s Rugby, Blues and Ferry Road Wanderers played matches at home on the same afternoon.
‘‘It’s a real club and every player wants all the teams to do well. It’s also a fantastic place for anyone of any level looking to be involved in rugby, make friends and have fun and socialise,’’ he said.
‘‘There are top men’s and women’s teams for players that want to play a decent level and who aspire to play pro rugby, the Blues, an oversubscribed social side and a growing junior section.’’
