Mate, you don't need to play in the cup unless you want a chance to win the silverware. You don't need to play in the league unless you want a chance to win the silverware. And yes, you don't need to play in the WCC unless you want a chance to win the silverware. Luckily Wigan are a team that always wants to be playing for silverware. If they weren't I'm pretty sure none of us would support them.
As for having no chance in a 2 horse race, have a word with yourself! Why do you even watch sport if you believe that? In fact go tell Sheffield they didn't need to turn up in '98 or Wigan in Brisbane in' 94. Tell Leicester City there's no way they can compete with the big boys so don't bother with their 2016 campaign or the 17 year old, unseeded Boris Becker not to bother with all that Wimbledon malarkey as it's a foregone conclusion he won't win it. I'll assume that you pick all the winners of every sporting match every week and clean up at the bookies. In fact you must be so rich by now you could buy the club and pull them out of any future World Club Challenges! Job sorted.
Look, you initially made this post because you thought we were in for a drubbing. It didn't happen and in fact it was a great night as you would have seen had you been there. Why not just admit you got this one wrong and move on. The club would play this game again next week if it was offered to them and they'd be right to. Sunday night dwarfed every occasion in rugby league bar the 2 finals and possibly Good Friday. We need more occasions like this, not less.
