Success for Young Royal Chester Rowers

0

Juniors from Royal Chester Rowing Club raced their way to success against strong opposition at Shrewsbury Regatta on Saturday.

The girls and boys came out of their winter training with a determination to win in challenging conditions. Racing on the Severn at Shrewsbury is always competitive and the crews came away with a number of wins.

The Women’s Junior 14 coxed quads rowed brilliantly with the “A” crew of Lucy Perkins, Hannah Jones, Chelsi Hanlon, Eleanor Moore, and cox Zoe Thornton-Reid winning their category. The “B” crew of Becky Hanly, Sophie Hilton, Victoria Rumney , Molly Paton and Amy Morris took the losers plate. The “C” crew of Sarah Fearnall, Eve Lawlor. Jade Ward, Paige Cox and Lorna Cowdell also raced to the final of their category and were just pipped to the post.

Not to be outdone by the girls, the boys also took their share of the spoils with the Junior 14 boys double of Joe Shaw & Oliver Smith winning the Junior 14 B Double Sculls in grand style and George Hull collecting the J14 Single Sculls medal.

A great team effort by all the Young Royals. Pictures: Winners of the WJ14 Coxed Quad Sculls
