Rippetoe Extended at Michigan State

0 1

Michigan State announced a contract extension for head coach Stacey Rippetoe in mid March that will keep the third-year coach through the 2029 season. Under Rippetoe, the Spartans have returned to the top 20 nationally, starting 2026 at #20 in the pre-season Pocock CRCA Coaches Poll. Last year, Michigan State made the grand final at the championship regatta for the Big 10, which became an even more competitive women’s rowing league through expansion in 2024.

“Stacey Rippetoe has Michigan State rowing ranked nationally once again” said Michigan State Vice President and Director of Athletics J Batt. “Entering her third season, the Spartans continue to work towards becoming one of the top programs in the Big Ten. We look forward to supporting this upward trend in the years to come.”

“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to keep building the Michigan State rowing program,” said Rippetoe.  “I gained so much personally and professionally from my time at MSU as an assistant coach; it is so exciting to enable others to have that type of transformative experience as part of our program.”

Rippetoe was the head coach at Boston University from 2008-2017, winning the CAA and Patriot League conference championships and qualifying for the NCAA championships in 2013 and 2014. Prior to that, Rippetoe coached on the Michigan State staff for eight years, 2000-2008, when MSU made NCAAs seven times. As a collegiate rower, she competed in the first NCAA championship in 1997 for Rutgers, finishing sixth.
