Solesbury Picked to Head British Rowing
Tom Solesbury is the new chief executive of British Rowing, the national governing body for the sport in the United Kingdom announced.
Solesbury, who begins in the spring, was chief operating officer at UK Athletics, Britain’s national governing body for track and field, which he helped through “significant financial and safeguarding challenges,” according to British Rowing. He joins Rowing Canada’s CEO Jeff Powell as another Olympic oarsman returning to the sport to lead its NGB.
“I am excited to be joining British Rowing and believe that huge opportunities lie ahead for our sport at all levels,” said Solesbury, who raced in the pair at Beijing 2008 and the quad at London 2012.
“I am very much looking forward to getting started and working alongside the rowing community and our brilliant staff and volunteers to build on rowing’s success.”
