0 20

Host nation China leads all countries with entries in 20 of 23 events at the 2025 World Rowing Championships, Sept. 21-28 at the Shanghai Waters Sports Centre, recently renovated for worlds. The United States has entered 15 crews and Canada will race 10.

“There’s been a great energy from all of the athletes,” said Canadian National Team women’s coach Tom Morris. “The team that’s been selected has taken solid forward steps technically and physically to move towards achieving the objectives for this year and the cycle.”

Canadian crews won at the Holland Beker, Henley Royal Regatta, and Royal Canadian Henley Regatta this summer. U.S. National Team crews raced at both World Rowing Cups, winning the women’s four at each stop with different line-ups.

Canada’s women’s four will double-up into the eight, while the U.S. women’s four will not. The U.S. men’s four of Christian Tabash, Alex Hedge, Gus Rodriguez, and Pieter Quinton are also entered in the eight. The U.S. will race in both the mixed double (Isabela Darvin and Jacob Plihal) and mixed eight (including the women’s four), two new events.

The men’s single drew the most entries, 36, including defending world and Olympic champion Ollie Zeidler and the rest of the Olympic podium: The Netherland’s Simon Van Dorp and “individual neutral athlete” (AIN) Yauhen Zalaty. The women’s single and women’s lightweight single events drew 20 entries each.

Five Para events will be raced in Shanghai, with the PR3 mixed double drawing a record 14 entries. The U.S. and Canada will race among eight countries in the PR3 mixed coxed four.

Croatia’s Martin and Valent Sinkovic combine with Anton and Patrik Loncaric in the men’s four as the Olympic champion Sinkovics seek their seven world championship in a fourth boat classs, having previously won in the quad, double, and pair.
