CAPTAIN’S BRIEFING 22 JUNE 2025

Super Saturday
- Next Saturday (28th June) is Super Saturday again
- Please sign up on the appropriate tab on the Googlesheet if you want to join in
- Remember that this is open to ALL members, and especially those who have just started rowing at the club.
- Come along and I will allocate you to a boat. Start time is 8.30am, so be there 10 minutes before
Summer Social
- A couple of weeks ago we advertised the Summer Social on Saturday 19th July
- This will be an afternoon row (basically a later in the day Super Saturday), followed by food, drinks and a chance to chill out at the club and socialise.
- It is open to members and their partners as well for the social section.
- Once again there is a tab on the Googlesheet to sign up for the row and the social afterwards.
- I know it is a month away, but please try to sign up soon so that we can gauge numbers and decide on the best catering option.
Boat Handling
- We have recently had 2 small bits of damage to 2 of the quads.
- They are both still perfectly useable, but we will need to fill the scratches.
- So this is just a reminder to all members to take care when handling boats to avoid damage wherever possible.
Using the Launch
- Lots of members use the launches for the various training outings.
- Please remember to keep the fuel line out of the water once it is disconnected.
- Also the front padlock has been left dangling in the water a couple of times recently, so will need replacing. Please always ensure that once locked, the padlock is inside a launch and not dangling outside.
- Also with the reed cutters out again, there is a lot of loose weed floating in the water. Challenging for rowers blades, but it can also clog up the propellor on the launches. So take care when clearing this and ensure that the engine is OFF when you clear it.
Position of the dredger
- This is slowly moving nearer and nearer to the club and is now on the corner near the yellow buoys.
- If you are only out at weekends, then no problem as it won’t be working.
- But if you are out during the week, take extra care of this obstacle.
