CUBC at British February Trials
Team GB held its final open trial of the season in Boston on Saturday 8 February 2025. Cambridge University was represented by eleven athletes, facing top domestic talent across the five-kilometre course.
Racing in cold, grey conditions, George Bourne (Peterhouse) and Douwe de Graaf (St Edmund’s) again formed a winning pair in the M2- with a time of 16:49.70, building on their success in December. They were joined by James Robson (Peterhouse) who, along with partner Will Stewart, secured second, 10 seconds behind Bourne and de Graaf. Luca Ferraro (Peterhouse) and Matthew Heywood (St Edmund’s) maintained their 5th place finish from December. Luke Beever (Emmanuel), alongside partner George Lauchlan, finished 15th with the second fastest time for a U23 pair. Just behind Beever were Matthew Morgan (Pembroke) and Simon Nunayon (Emmanuel) in 16th.
In the W2-, Cambridge’s Natasha Morrice (Jesus) and Samantha Morton (Hughes Hall), acting as facilitator, took 7th in a time of 19:50.50 with pair Gemma King (LMBC) and Carys Earl (Caius) finishing 12th.
In the W1x, alumna Imogen Grant finished 5th.
