Barnburner Three-Way Finish at World Rowing Cup I

0 24

In a barnburner of a race, the second heat of the lightweight women’s double at the World Rowing Cup I featured the top three finishers — Canada, Australia, and Italy — all crossing the line within .04 seconds of each other. The Italian crew, notably the country’s second entry in the event, made up deficit of more than three seconds at the 500m mark. Brutally, they were relegated to tomorrow’s repechage, with only the top two crews advancing directly to the finals. The duo, Stefania Buttignon and Silvia Crosio, competed in last year’s World Championships in the openweight double.
