Sports Briefs: Marin Rowing’s Stone joins U23 National Team camp

Marin Rowing Association member Quincy Stone, who competes for Stanford University, has been invited to the USRowing’s 2023 Under 23 National Team selection camps this summer. Athletes selected through the camps will represent Team USA at the 2023 World Rowing Under 23 Championships July 19-23 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

The U23 Women’s Sculling Selection Camp is being held at the Oklahoma City High Performance Center under the direction of OKCHP Head Coach and High Performance Director Reilly Dampeer. The camp will select the women’s quadruple sculls crew that will represent the U.S. in Plovdiv. Spearheaded by University of Oklahoma Women’s Head Coach Sarah Trowbridge, the U23 Women’s Sweep Selection Camp also is being held in Oklahoma City and will select the women’s eight and women’s four with coxswain that will be heading to Bulgaria.

The selection camps run through July 7.

Little League

With only three days left in round robin play during the District 3 Little League All-Star tournament, three Marin County teams are in a tie for first place, all at 3-1. Novato South, Tiburon Peninsula and West Marin, along with San Francisco National, have a one-game edge.

• Mill Valley posted a 10-1 victory over San Francisco on Wednesday to improve to 2-0 and stay atop the District 3 standings, just ahead of Twin Cities (1-0). West Marin also scored a 10-1 win over San Rafael. on Wednesday.

• Novato North and Novato South both scored shutout wins Wednesday in District 3 action among the 9-10 year-olds. West Marin and Tiburon Peninsula also won. Novato North and Twin Cities are tied at 3-0 atop the standings.
