Aussies touch down in Seattle for Windermere Cup
The Australian Team competing at the 2023 Windermere Cup has arrived safely in Seattle ahead of this weekend’s racing.
Hosted by Windermere Real Estate and the University of Washington, an Australian female and male 8+ have been invited to participate at the 37th annual Windermere Cup Regatta, forming part of Seattle’s Opening Day of Boating Season celebration. Each year, international or University crews are invited to compete in this unique experience, racing head-to-head against the University of Washington crews, with Australia competing only twice previously in 1988 and 1997.
With tens of thousands of people lining the full length of the 2000m course, on boat and land, the regatta is truly unique and only one of many activities taking place throughout the week – further details can be found online HERE.
“We’re really looking forward to competing in this year’s Windermere Cup Regatta,” said Team Lead and Deputy Performance Director, Jaime Fernandez OLY.
“Our hosts have been incredibly generous and we’re extremely grateful and excited to be part of this unique and prestigious event. Our team is being well taken care of and it’s been a wonderful goal to have our athletes train towards. I wish all crews the best of luck for racing.”
Racing can be viewed live HERE from 4:30am AEST on Sunday May 7.
