Alex Hill OAM joins ranks of Aussie world record holders

Alex Hill OAM is the latest Australian elite rower to surge to a world mark on the ergometer, joining Georgie Rowe and Erik Horrie OAM after a powerhouse 30-minute row that torched the record books.

The Tokyo Olympic champion clocked a remarkable 9518m (right) during a blistering half hour on the Concept2 rowing machine. The South Australian produced some eye-watering splits to prove he is fine form heading into the international racing season.

It caps off a remarkable run of records for Australian Rowing Team members. In December, Tokyo Olympian Rowe took ownership of the women’s 30-minute record with 8486m.

And in January, Para star Horrie said he was just ‘following the process’ when he backed up a 15km training row on the Brisbane River with a new 5km row of 19:33.8s, leaving him in possession of 11 of the 13 Para world records on the erg.
