Monday Night Football picks and prop bets: The Colts are rowing upstream

0 12

The Indianapolis Colts got their first win of the season in Week 4. Turning that into a streak is going to take some work.

The Colts have an opportunity to avoid a 1-4 start, but it will come at the hands of a 3-1 Baltimore Ravens team on the road. The Ravens are -7.5 (-108) and -370 on the moneyline (bet $370 to win $100). Pull off the upset, and Frank Reich’s team is very much alive in a shaky AFC South. Lose and … well, actually, the South is bad enough that a .200 winning percentage might not be a death warrant.

The Ravens exist in a tougher environment. A Monday night win would push them to 4-1 and a solo spot in the North. A loss drops them into a three-way tie with the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns just one game ahead of a suddenly-competent (?) Pittsburgh Steelers team.

Beating Indianapolis means charging into the teeth of a defense coming off a game in which it allowed the Miami Dolphins to run for just 35 total yards. It also means handling an offense that fails to rank in the top 20 in any meaningful category through roughly one quarter of the season so far.

Let’s take a closer look.
