2021 Summer Success

0 9

It was great to see racing restarted in 2021 and YCRC crews made their mark on the season!

Competition began with several crews attending Peterborough Regatta. Overall category wins were achieved for the W.J18.4x, J18.4x-, J16.4x- and Op.2- with several other crews placing well in the A finals or winning their B finals.

Durham Regatta saw five high profile wins for the junior squad in Op.Eli.4x-, W.Eli.A.4x-, Op.Eli.A.2x, Op.J16.4x- and Op.J15.4x+. From the senior squads Freddy and Aidan backed up their Peterborough win to take the Op.Eli.2- trophy.

The junior girls had a fantastic run at Henley Women’s Regatta with the J4x and J2x both progressing through the time trials and the first round of side by side races to reach their quarter finals. The time trials at Henley Women’s are contested by a large number of skilled crews and this is a truly fantastic performance from both crews.

Not to be outdone the masters squads took three wins at British Masters in Op.MasE.4+, W.MasE.8+ and the W.MasE.1x for Anne Homa.

The crews went on to Henley Masters where the W.MasE.8+ progressed to their final, giving a composite crew including ex-Olympians a competitive race, losing out by just 2 lengths. The W.MasE.4+ went on to win their final later in the day in commanding fashion.

We were also able to invite visiting crews to race at our own event and YCRC achieved 7 final wins at York Summer before thunderstorms stopped play in division 3.

With Henley Royal Regatta around the corner we expect this news to be continued……………..
