The Gemini Boat Race Bursary Fund: open for applications

Principal Partner Gemini and The Boat Race Company are delighted to announce that applications for The Gemini Boat Race Bursary Fund are now open. Gemini is making available up to £25,000, with grant sizes ranging from £4,000 to £7,000.

The Gemini Boat Race Bursary Fund aims to support initiatives working with young people, particularly in communities underrepresented in rowing, to help with their personal development. The Fund will award grants to engage a new generation of potential rowers across a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds.

The Fund would like to hear from rowing clubs, schools, and youth club programmes around the UK. These projects could be looking for support to re-engage with young people after lockdown, fund existing services or enable them to expand.

The Boat Race Company and Gemini believe in the transformative potential of sport for every individual. This year, physical activity will be key to the national recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. Together, we are focused on ensuring The Boat Race in particular makes a difference to local communities, whether in London, Cambridge, Oxford or further afield.

The Gemini Boat Race Company will work closely and actively with recipients of the Fund throughout the duration of the grant. Applications opened on 1 June 2021 and will close at 6pm on 30 June 2021.

The Gemini Boat Race Bursary Scheme has separately made grants to support Fulham Reach Boat Club’s Learn To Row programme on the Championship Course, and London Youth Rowing’s Active Row Leeds programme.
