Sports briefs: Marin Rowing’s Youth Eight boats rebound at Head of the Charles

The Marin Rowing Association boasted eight boats with top-10 times at last weekend’s Head of the Charles.

The Youth Eights rebounded from relatively disappointing finishes last year, as the women took third place and the boys placed fifth among a tough field on Sunday.

Men’s Senior Masters Eights (second place), Women’s Senior Master Eights (third), Men’s Grand Master Eights (fourth), Women’s Senior Master Doubles (sixth), Women’s Grand Master Fours (ninth), and Men’s Senior Master Fours (10th) rounded out Marin Rowing’s best performances at the annual Boston regatta.

Girls tennis

Marin Academy cruised to a 5-0 sweep of International at home. Freshman Dearing Fife battled back from a 5-1 deficit in the first set to win 11 straight games and secure a victory at No. 3 singles.

Women’s soccer

Freshman forward Tanya Bills scored Dominican’s first goal since Oct. 5, but the Penguins couldn’t erase an early deficit during a 3-1 loss to Hawai’i Pacific on Monday night at Waipio Stadium. Sophomore goalkeeper Jaqueline Catano saved one shot in her first career start for Dominican (3-4-6, 0-3-3 PacWest).
