Light Blues on the World Stage

0 19

A host of Cambridge Alumni have been selected to represent their country at the forthcoming World Rowing Senior Championships in Linz, Austria.

Cambridge University Boat Club’s Fieldman will cox the Great Britain Men’s Eight. The crew won their first gold medal of the Olympiad in Rotterdam last month and will be challenging for one of only five Olympic qualification spots in Linz.

Meanwhile, the USA Men’s Eight will include Patrick Eble, a former student at Hughes Hall, and member of the 2017 CUBC Blue Boat.

Natan Wegrzycki-Szymczyk will represent Poland in the Men’s Single scull. Natan has worked his way up the rankings during the World Cup Season after stroking this year’s CUBC Blue Boat to victory.

Natan will go up against 2018/19 CUBC Squad President Dara Alizadeh, who is representing the Bahamas, also in the Men’s Single scull.

In addition to the above former CUBC Squad members, 3 former CUWBC athletes who were all coached by our Chief Coach Rob Baker will be part of the British Team: Holly Hill (Women’s Four), Melissa Wilson (Women’s Quad) and Imogen Grant (Lightweight Women’s Double).

The World Rowing Championships takes place 25 August – 1 September 2019.
