Man rows canoe to local liquor shop during flooding in Kerala

Severe flooding in Alappuzha village in Kerala did not prevent this man from getting his tipple of choice from a liquor shop.

A video shot by an onlooker shows the man rowing his canoe to the front door of the shop on August 9 and receiving a cup of his favourite coconut liquor.

He sat down in his boat to enjoy it and then rowed back home.

Several states of India are reeling under floods due to heavy monsoon rains.

Rivers are in spate and dams are overflowing forcing officials to release water adding to the flooding.

In Kerala, among the worst affected states, disaster management officials are battling to rescue affected people and move them to safety.

Floods have taken a toll of 39 people and rendered nearly 54,000 homeless in the state.
