Newsletter Week 12

This Week:

Wednesday: We will be meeting at 1pm in County Bar for lunch and a chat. Please return any club gear you may have. We will then be heading down to the wall for 2pm

Hustings: Wednesday at 8pm, Bowland Seminar Room 22. If you are interested in running for a position start thinking about what you might want to say, and how you would run the club. Don't worry, speeches only need to be 2 minutes! You are more than welcome to message a current exec to find out more about a position. Even if you don't want to run for a position, you can still come along to support your friends and the club.
There will be free drinks for everyone who comes, so click attending on our event so we buy enough!
It is really important to have an exec for the club to run, so if you are interested in climbing please do consider it. If you are please give us a heads up. Being on the exec gives you the chance to help plan trips and socials, as well as deciding what new gear the club buys.

Positions up for grabs:
President
Vice-President / Secretary
Treasurer
Safety and Gear Officer (may be split into 2 positions if there is enough interest)
Media and Web Master
Social Secretaries * 2

Winter Skills Trip 2.0: We will be running a joint winter skills trip with the hikers to the Cairngorms in Scotland from the 27th - 29th January. Trip now fully booked.
Here is a basic kit list of what you will need. Please let us know if there is any gear you need to borrow before the day of the trip.

Things to look out for:

Weekend Away: 24th Feb - 26th Feb. We are running a weekend trip to the Peak District this term. This is always a great weekend of climbing and mountaineering. It will cost roughly £35, which includes transport, accommodation in a hut, and meals on the Saturday & Sunday. There are 18 places available; the sign up will be
going live this week.

Banff Mountain Film Festival: 28th March at Lancaster Grand Theatre.
Featuring a brand new collection of the most exhilarating mountain and adventure films on the planet, witness phenomenal landscapes, inspirational characters and a whole heap of adrenaline coming at you from the big screen! Celebrating the mountains and the great outdoors, the screenings have a real community feel – and there are fabulous prize giveaways too! A great social night out.
Each date features a different collection of films. The event starts at 19.30, with doors and the bar opening an hour before. There are discounts on tickets for groups of six and more. More information at: http://www.banff-uk.com/

Happy climbing,
The Exec
