2025 GMC Photo Contest Results
We thank Mountain Hardwear for sponsoring this exciting contest. We will be in contact with winners to organise the delivery of your prize in the coming days!
This Year's Selected Winners
Thank you to everyone who entered this competition. There were so many brilliant entries, which made choosing our winners a tough choice. It’s worth noting that judging photography, like any art form, is subjective, and we tried to set aside our biases. Judging was based on criteria such as photo composition, originality, and how well the submission reflects the spirit of the ACC and the GMC. All of the rules can be referred to here. We hope you had fun snapping your photos – it was certainly fun to experience the GMC through your lenses!
1st Place: Hatteras Panorama by Steve Fagan
‘This panorama captures the spectacular landscape from GMC 2025, with the peaks of Krinkletop, Hatteras and Squab (L-R) dominating the skyline and the crevassed surface of the sweeping Hatteras Glacier bearing the marks of time and movement.’ – Steve Fagan
Not only does this panorama showcase the physical landscape in perfect definition; it also serves up a healthy amount of drama. The eye is drawn immediately to Hatteras – centre stage – and you can feel its commanding presence. The light and shadow is perfectly balanced, and the monochrome treatment enhances the composition, textures and structure. It pays respect to and adequately represents these powerful and timeless mountains. Congrats, Steve!
2nd Place: Adam on Snowman Ridge by Thierry Levenq
This photo offers epic views, clever composition and excellent use of shadow/negative space. You can’t help but put yourself into the shoes of the mystery climber (Adam!) as he gazes upon the sun-drenched peaks of Hatteras. It’s giving excitement, pride, and awe; the feelings of anyone climbing along a ridge to a peak!
3rd Place: Snow Much for a Pool Day… by Alison Andrews
Admittedly, we named this one! It is the perfect excuse for a creative caption. This photo is a whole load of fun that you won’t see anywhere other than on an ACC GMC. But it not only oozes with GMC spirit – its subjects are perfectly posed, the shot is clear of distractions, the composition is balanced, and as always – pinky adds a welcome splash of colour to the mountainscape. It’s a good job that Pinky’s air-head doesn’t need the protection of that helmet, but our climbers are all geared up for an amazing ascent. Thanks for this fun capture, Alison!
Each year our GMC finds a new home in a remote, exciting part of western Canada’s mountains. For 2026, we are excited to announce that the camp will be visiting the unique and beautiful alpine wilderness surrounding the Trident Range in the Northern Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia.
Set at 2,400 metres, the camp opens the door to a rugged world of glaciers, serrated spires, steep snow slopes, and impressive peaks. Being fully-catered and lead by expert guides, the GMC enables explorers of all levels to have an alpine adventure.
