SUMMIT SHAKER 2025

0 1

Each year The ACC and the ACMG come together to celebrate another year of mountain culture and adventure, and to gather our community to celebrate the work we do.

The event will be held at the Cascade Lodge at Mt. Norquay – a party up on the hill. It’s a great place to celebrate mountain culture where folks can mingle inside and out, chat by the fire and have a good time celebrating our special community.

Dress code: Mountain Smart (aka business casual, gowns not required )

Saturday, Oct 25, 2025!

We are grateful to be able to gather together this fall at Mt Norquay. Mt Norquay is located in the traditional lands of Treaty 7, which is comprised of the Stoney Nakoda Nations of Wesley, Chiniki, and Bearspaw; three Nations of the Blackfoot Confederacy: the Piikani, Kainai, and Siksika; the Mountain Cree; and the Tsuu T’ina of the Dene people. This territory is also shared with the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III. Before the signing of Treaty 7, and prior to the establishment of provincial boundaries, this region was also used by the Ktunaxa and the Maskwacis people. We acknowledge the past, present, and future generations of these Nations who continue to lead us in stewarding this land, as well as honour their knowledge and cultural ties to this place.

The details...

2025 is the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, and to mark this important milestone, we’re shining a spotlight on something bigger than any one of us — our glaciers. At this year’s event, we’ll be showcasing stunning photographs from ACC and ACMG members as part of a special Mountain Legacy Project Exhibit.

Get ready to have some fun too — we’ll be awarding a prize for the best “glacial-themed” outfit, and this year’s games will include glacial trivia and other activities to raise awareness about the vital role glaciers play in our mountain environments.

We’re also proud to highlight the incredible work being done by ACC Environment Grant recipients, who are leading projects that protect, study, and educate others about glaciers and their future.

There will be an exclusive, smaller Summit Bid Silent Auction for folks attending the Summit Shaker. Proceeds from this year’s Summit Bid go to support the Simon Parboosingh Assistance Fund, the Mountain Muskox, and the ACC Environment Fund

Learn more about the Summit Bid Silent Auction.

ACC – Environment Fund

The ACC Environment Grant is awarded annually from a permanent fund that supports projects protecting mountain environments, addressing climate change, conserving alpine ecosystems, and sustaining mountain cultures, with a focus on conservation over recreation.

ACMG – Simon Parboosingh Assistance Fund

This fund serves as a vital resource for ACMG members, staff, and volunteers, offering financial assistance during personal crisis. It was established in memory of Simon Parboosingh, an aspiring alpine guide who tragically lost his life in 1994. The fund aims to continue Simon’s legacy by supporting our community during challenging times.

Mountain Muskox

Proceeds from this year’s Summit Bid Silent Auction will also go to support the Mountain Muskox. The Mountain Muskox offers peer-led support circles for those affected by loss or trauma in the mountains. With guidance from professional facilitators, they create safe, sustainable spaces for sharing, healing, and connection within the mountain community — directly supporting ACC and ACMG members, and other members of the mountain community when they need it most.

Get ready for a casual evening of hanging out, having fun, and playing games!
