Ghor Mountaineering Team climbs peak at 4,100 meters

Jan Mohammad Haidari, a mountaineer from Ghor province, shared that a five-member team led by Mohammad Naseem Khuram, the head of the Ghor Mountaineering Federation, successfully ascended the highest peak at an elevation of 4,100 meters on the border between Ghor and Bamyan provinces on Saturday, February 1.

Haidari explained that the purpose of this mountaineering expedition was to enhance the physical strength of Ghor’s mountaineering team in preparation for national competitions in the sport.

Haidari also mentioned that the five-member team is scheduled to participate in a training program organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Mountaineering Federation in Kabul. The program is aimed at improving the skills of mountaineers across the country.

This Ghor mountaineering team has previously organized expeditions in various regions of the province, demonstrating their commitment to developing the sport and promoting outdoor activities.

In the past, a group of mountaineers and athletes from Ghor, in collaboration with Bismillah Khurami and Jan Mohammad Haidari, climbed the White Mountain at an elevation of 3,300 meters in a symbolic gesture supporting the TAPI project. This one-day event was coordinated by the Ghor Sports Directorate.

Athletes from Ghor province have long supported developmental projects in Afghanistan, using sports to address local issues and promote social welfare. With the TAPI project now being reopened, these athletes have again expressed their support for the initiative.

While these mountaineering feats and community-driven sports projects demonstrate the resilience and enthusiasm of Ghor’s athletes, the lack of adequate resources and attention to the country’s athletes remains a pressing issue. Despite their dedication and passion, the challenges they face in receiving support and recognition hinder their potential for greater achievements.

The government’s neglect of athletic development, particularly in Ghor, continues to impede the growth of sports talent. These athletes not only deserve better infrastructure and resources but also the attention they need to represent Afghanistan on the international stage. The situation calls for urgent action to prioritize the well-being and progress of the nation’s athletes.
