Jumpstart Your 2025 Tick List With These Post-Holiday Climbing Deals

0 4

The holidays are over, but the sales are not. Takeaway: Now is a superb time to grab the gear you need to get a jump on your 2025 training goals and projects.

Whether you got a gift card as a present last week, have some REI Co-op Member rewards to cash in before they expire, or just need to patch those holes in your climbing gear closet, here are seven of our favorite post-holiday climbing deals out there right now.

1. La Sportiva Miura Climbing Shoes (Men’s: $148.93 $199.00; Women’s: $132.30 $189.00)

The Miura is an enduring best-seller for good reason. This versatile shoe is a favorite of trad and sport climbers alike, making it a solid pair to send in wherever 2025 takes you. Designed for bigger climbers, the men’s version is slightly stiffer, while the women’s style uses softer rubber. La Sportiva last updated this shoe in 2023. Snag the men’s version for 25% off at REI, and the women’s version for 30% off at Backcountry (the women’s version isn’t on sale at REI).

2. La Sportiva Mantra ($124.73 $169.00)

Got some long hours in the gym ahead of you? One of our favorite gym shoes—the Mantra—is on sale now. Soft, easy to break in, and great on steep climbs, this shoe is a smart pick for training season.

3. Edelrid Sendero Harness ($64.73 $89.95)

If one of your 2025 objectives is to reduce your carbon footprint, the Sendero Harness is designed to save resources with bluesign®-certified materials. While we haven’t reviewed this harness since 2020, our tester four years ago found it comfortable for lowering, rapping, and belaying alike.

4. Salewa Wildfire Leather Approach Shoes (30% Off)

The Gore-Tex version of the Wildfire 2 made our list of top approach shoes recently, but this model is a fine choice, too. It features an easily adjustable lacing harness, a padded tongue, breathability, and plenty of comfort for longer approaches and scrambling. The shoes are 30% off at REI, but pricing varies across gendered styles.

5. Black Diamond Camalots (discount varies)

Whether you want to build out your rack for big wall objectives or are just trad-curious, Black Diamond’s marked down a few of its camalots during its year-end clearance sale. Save on its smaller Z4 Offsets for finger cracks and micro placements or an Ultralight #2. Inventory is limited, so rack up these cams on sale before they’re out of stock.

6. Mountain Equipment Oreus Hooded Jacket – Men’s ($337.46 $449.95)

We love this versatile jacket from Mountain Equipment so much that we included it on our list of best gifts for climbers this year. Synthetic Aetherm insulation offers the durability and weather resistance of synthetic insulation, but performs like down, offering superior warmth in tough conditions. It’s great for mountaineering objectives, as a mid-layer for cold days at the crag, or as a lightweight belay jacket. Only the men’s style is on sale.

7. Edelrid Swift Protect Pro 8.9mm Dry Rope ($247.46-$292.46 $389.95)

In our 2020 review, we found this skinny rope abundantly trustworthy across disciplines. The Edelrid Swift Protect is both durable and lightweight, from the crag to the alpine. Thanks to the pro dry finish, this rope (now 25% off at Backcountry.com) performs on water ice and in wet conditions, too. Available in 60m, 70m, and 80m, this is one of our favorite post-holiday climbing deals out there this year.
