Weekend Whipper: Botched Clip, Big Whip
This one comes from María Parra. María told Climbing in an email, “I was trying my project, a 10c/10d in Las Rocas del Abra, Colombia. The first moves are really difficult for me, they require a lot of power. I arrived completely tired to the third bolt and I found a quickdraw with the gate in front that I could not clip from my complex position.
“I decided to rearrange myself, but my left foot played a trick on me and I blew myself away. My belayer thought that I clipped so he jumped to make my flight more dynamic. I fell head-on, almost hit the ground. But luckily all was good: I’m still alive and didn’t even have a scratch!”
Happy Friday and climb safe this weekend!
