Great Britain Celebrates Five New Veterans Judo World Champions

0 9

The final day of the World Veterans Judo Championships saw the British women take to the tatami determined to end the week on a high, and they delivered in spectacular fashion.

Their outstanding performances earned three World titles, five silver medals, and three bronze medals on the final day of competition at the 2025 Championships in Paris.

Lesley Reid became the new World Champion in the F7 -78kg category, an incredible achievement completed in style as she didn’t concede a single point throughout the day. She was joined on the podium by Dawn Netherwood, who claimed silver, solidifying Great Britain’s dominance in the division.

Rosemary Felton took gold in the F6 -63kg category, producing a brilliant performance to capture the World title without conceding a single score on her run to the top step of the podium.

Our third and final World Champion of the day was Natasha Glassford, who topped the podium in the F2 -63kg division, showing the quality of our new World Champions as she also went through the entire day without dropping a single point. She was joined by Becky Dunning, who earned silver in the same category, making it a 1–2 finish for Great Britain.

Dianne White added another medal to the tally, taking silver in the F7 -57kg category, Simone Strong became the new silver medallist in the F6 -70kg division, and Joanne Gregory earned silver in the F6 -78kg category.

In the bronze medal matches, Danielle Batt fought hard to take bronze in the F2 -78kg division, Samantha Chraniuk claimed bronze in the F3 -63kg field, and Kay Andrews earned bronze in the F7 -63kg category.

There were also outstanding efforts from Laura Plumridge (F1 -70kg), who finished 5th, and from Kylie Adams (F2 -70kg) and Nicole Ruduss (F4 -70kg), who both placed 7th — just outside the medals but incredibly close, and still walking away with excellent results.

What an incredible final day for the GB squad — medals were coming left, right, and centre, and strong performances were seen from every competitor who stepped onto the tatami in Paris.

A huge congratulations to all our British Veterans on an outstanding week of judo!
