Kayla Harrison continued her seemingly inexorable march towards the PFL’s inaugural women’s lightweight championship.

The two-time Olympic gold medal winning judoka was heavily favored going into Thursday’s co-main event meeting with Morgan Frier at PFL 4 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and she didn’t disappoint. It didn’t take long for Harrison to show off her grappling expertise as she muscled Frier against the cage and scored a takedown.

From there, she made her way into half-guard and then advanced to a crucifix position that allowed her to pepper Frier with short punches on the ground. As Frier moved to defend herself, she left her arm open for a key lock that Harrison pounced on to earn the tap-out at the 1:25 mark of round one.

With the win, Harrison earned six points to give herself nine total in the 2019 PFL season, good enough for the second seed in the upcoming playoffs. She will take on Geneh Fabian in the semifinals, with the winner advancing to the PFL season finale on Dec. 31 where they will compete for a championship and a $1 million prize.

In the other semifinal, top seed Sarah Kaufman fights Larissa Pacheco.
