Tyson Jost facilitates Predators’ key win over Sharks

Tyson Jost set up the game winner, the insurance marker and added an empty-netter in the third period as the visiting Nashville Predators doubled up the San Jose Sharks 6-3 on Saturday night.

Filip Forsberg scored twice and added an assist, while Steven Stamkos, Ryan O'Reilly and Erik Haula also scored for the Predators (36-31-9, 81 points), who moved into the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

Roman Josi and Adam Wilsby added a pair of assists each for Nashville, which has won back-to-back games and improved to 16-16-6 on the road this season.

Juuse Saros made 24 saves to improve to 15-2-1 against the Sharks.

Nick Leddy scored and added an assist, and Macklin Celebrini and Alexander Wennberg scored for the Sharks (36-32-7, 79 points), who had their four-game winning streak snapped in the loss.

Yaroslav Askarov stopped 28 shots.

Nashville got the go-ahead goal at 8:28 of the third as O'Reilly snapped a Luke Evangelista pass past Askarov.

Haula added an insurance short-handed goal at 17:26 of the third, one-timing Jost's dump in glove side past Askarov.

Jost scored his empty-netter at 18:45 of the third.

Trailing 3-0, San Jose scored three straight to tie the game.

Leddy got the Sharks on the board at 15:49 of the second, snapping a William Eklund pass stick side past Saros.

Celebrini pulled the Sharks to within one with 19 seconds remaining in the middle frame, snapping a floater over the glove of Saros.

Wennberg tied it 3-3 1:06 into the third, going end-to-end, skating around Jonathan Marchessault, and putting the puck between the pads of Saros.

Forsberg scored twice in a 1:16 span as Nashville opened a 2-0 lead midway through the first period.

Nashville opened the scoring at 8:38 of the first period on a power play as Forsberg one-timed a Marchessault feed past Askarov.

The Predators doubled their lead 9:54 later as Forsberg knocked in the rebound off Miles Wood's shot.

Stamkos made it 3-0 at 16:55 of the opening frame on a power play, snapping a shot glove-side past Askarov from the face-off dot.
