Bulldogs Bite Spruce Kings with 3-goal Second
The Alberni Valley Bulldogs scored three times in the second period and defeated the Prince George Spruce Kings 4-2 on Saturday night at the Alberni Valley Multiplex
River Arnason opened the scoring for the Spruce Kings at 5:35 of the first period, making a move in tight on a 3 on 2 to make it 1-0.
The Bulldogs responded before the end of the period at 18:24 as Ryan Small finished off a cross-crease pass to make it 1-1.
Alberni Valley started out strong in the second with two goals in the first 2:43, as Eduard Mishikov scored top shelf before Jackson Lackas finished off a Brendan DeFeo pass to make it 3-1.
Lackas got his second of the night at 14:02 from DeFeo and Kye Benoche on a similar goal, this time on the power play. Marcus Lougheed did respond with his 20th of the season to get within two, but Prince George could not solve Derik Brouillard in the third and dropped the finale of the road trip.
The Spruce Kings return home to take on the Coquitlam Express on Saturday March 21st at 6:00 and Sunday March 22nd at 3:00 as the battle for the Coastal East division remains up for grabs.
