Reports: Chiefs to sign RB Kenneth Walker III

Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth Walker reportedly agreed to a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday during the first 30 minutes of the permitted negotiating window in free agency.

NFL Network reported the contract is worth up to $45 million over three years. Free agents can officially sign with a new team on Wednesday, the first day of the 2026 league year.

Walker, 25, had 161 total yards on 29 touches in the Seahawks' Super Bowl LX win over the New England Patriots. He was widely expected to find a new home after general manager John Schneider informed Walker he would not be restrained by the franchise tag in February.

Walker has 34 total carries of 20-plus yards in his career and brings a big-play element to the Chiefs' running game lacking in recent seasons with Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt sharing running back chores.

With the Seahawks, Walker was in a rotation with Zach Charbonnet for most of his four seasons after being selected in the second round of the 2022 draft. With 27 carries in the Super Bowl, Walker had more than 19 in a single game for the first time all season.

The 2025 regular season was the first time in Walker's career he did not miss a game. He played in 12 in 2024 and had a career-low 153 carries for 573 yards.

In 59 career regular-season games, Walker has 821 carries for 3,555 yards and 29 touchdowns.
