Nanaimo Clippers Captain Will Subject Commits to Maryville University Division I Program

The Nanaimo Clippers are proud to announce that team captain Will Subject has committed to Maryville University to continue his academic and athletic career playing NCAA Division I hockey.

Subject has been a cornerstone of the Clippers’ leadership group, wearing the “C” with professionalism and a relentless compete level. A dependable presence on the blue line, he has earned the respect of teammates, staff, and fans through his work ethic and commitment to team success.

“Will represents everything we want in a captain,” said Clippers Head Coach and General Manager Colin Birkas. “He leads by example every day, prepares like a pro, and elevates the players around him. Maryville is getting a high-character leader and a defenseman who can be trusted.”

Beyond his on-ice contributions, Subject has played a key role in fostering team culture and setting standards in the dressing room. His leadership helped drive the Clippers’ competitive identity.

This commitment marks the Clippers’ fourth NCAA Division 1 commitment in the past month, underscoring the organization’s strong track record of developing players and advancing their careers to the next level.
