Savita Punia opts out as India names 20-member squad for women's hockey WC qualifier
Veteran goalkeeper Savita Punia has withdrawn from the Women World Cup Qualifiers for personal reasons. Midfielder Salima Tete will captain the 20-member Indian squad. The FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 Qualifiers will be held in Hyderabad from March 8 to 14. India aims to secure one of the three qualification spots for the World Cup.
