Ryder Green made 21 saves for his third shutout of the season, and the Spruce Kings scored a goal in each period on their way to a 3-0 win over the Surrey Eagles Friday night at Kopar Memorial Arena.
Mason Loewen got the Spruce Kings on the board at 5:15 of the opening frame after River Arnason rushed the puck into the zone and took a hit as he dropped it to Loewen. The quick wrister from the Charlie Lake product beat Brady Smith to open the scoring.
The Spruce Kings power play struggled a bit early in the game, but Lucas Busch found the back of the net at 12:23 of the second frame as Trent LeDrew and Evan Bellamy drew the assists. Shooting from the top of the left circle, Busch’s shot eluded the blocker hand of Smith to make it 2-0.
In the third, Spencer Masters picked up his eighth of the season off a broken play, as he was taken down to his knees, but the puck just sat there as he got up and beat Smith to make it 3-0.
The Spruce Kings finished the game 1/5 on the man advantage, outshooting the Eagles 40-21 in the game.
The two teams return to the Kopar Memorial Arena ice tomorrow at 6:00 pm. There are just over 500 seats remaining. Tickets at the links below.
