Doesn't Sound Like U.S. Women's Hockey Is 'Soon' Going to the White House
Thanks to Team USA men’s hockey chugging beers with podcaster-turned-FBI director Kash Patel and laughing at sexist jokes from Trump after winning Olympic gold, the story of both the women’s and men’s teams topping the Olympic podium has turned into a story of who is and who isn’t visiting the White House. At the moment, the men are “winning.” (Or losing. Hard to say.)
During Trump’s State of the Union Tuesday night, he brought out 20 members of the men’s winning team for a standing ovation and chants of “USA!” from Republicans. (Five players did not attend. Brava.) After the women’s team initially declined Trump’s invite, he claimed during his speech that they “will soon be coming” to the White House. But this appeared to be based on nothing (much like everything else he said in his speech)—and it appears to be news to them.
