Nanaimo Clippers’ Hayden Fechner Commits to NCAA Division I Stonehill College
Nanaimo, BC — The Nanaimo Clippers are proud to announce that forward Hayden Fechner has committed to Stonehill College (NCAA Division I) for the 2026–27 season.
Fechner has been a driving force in the Clippers’ offense this season, currently leading the team in both goals and points with 17 goals and 38 points in 34 games. A dynamic and intelligent forward, he combines skill, pace, and hockey sense with a strong compete level, making him a constant threat in all situations and a key contributor to Nanaimo’s success.
Fechner was recently named the Most Valuable Player in the BCHL’s All Star Game, where he led Team Canada with a goal and assist in a win over Team World.
“I’m extremely grateful for my time in Nanaimo and for everyone in the Clippers organization,” said Fechner. “The coaching staff has pushed me to become a better player every day, and the environment here has helped me grow both on and off the ice. I’m thankful for my teammates and billets, and I’m really excited for the opportunity to continue my career at Stonehill.”
Clippers Head Coach and General Manager Colin Birkas praised Fechner’s approach and character.
“Hayden is a great example of what we look for in our program,” said Birkas. “He shows up every day ready to work, competes hard, and continues to improve his overall game. Stonehill is getting a player who is coachable, and driven to get better.”
Fechner’s commitment continues to highlight the Nanaimo Clippers’ role in developing student-athletes for NCAA opportunities, as well as the BCHL’s reputation as a premier pathway to college hockey.
The entire Clippers organization congratulates Hayden and his family on this exciting next step.
