Reports: Dolphins promoting Bobby Slowik to offensive coordinator

The Miami Dolphins are promoting Bobby Slowik to offensive coordinator under new head coach Jeff Hafley, according to multiple reports on Saturday.

Slowik, 38, who served one season as the Dolphins' senior pass game coordinator, was the Houston Texans' offensive coordinator for two seasons before he was fired in January 2025.

The Texans were 12th in the league in yards per game (342.4) and tied for 13th in scoring (22.2 points per game) in 2023 when Slowik worked with then-rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud for the AFC South division champions. However, Houston's offense dipped to 22nd in total offense (319.7 ypg) and 19th in scoring (21.9 ppg) the following season as injuries and inconsistent play impacted the offense.

Slowik worked his way from a defensive assistant in Washington, D.C. (2011-13) to the staff of the San Francisco 49ers from 2017-22. He began as a defensive quality control coach before rising to offensive assistant, passing game specialist and passing game coordinator.

Hafley was defensive backs coach for the 49ers from 2016-18, which overlapped with Slowik for the latter two seasons.

Miami's passing offense ranked 25th this season with 180.5 yards per game and 24th in passing efficiency with an 87.3 rating.

The Dolphins' quarterback room includes Tua Tagovailoa, 27, a longtime starter who was benched late this season by former head coach Mike McDaniel, and Quinn Ewers, 22, who made three starts to close out his rookie year.
