Royce O’Neale, Suns stay hot with rout of Wizards
Royce O'Neale scored a season-high 19 points and made five 3-pointers, Devin Booker added 17 points and the host Phoenix Suns blew out the Washington Wizards 112-93 on Sunday.
Dillon Brooks scored 16 points, Grayson Allen added 12 and Mark Williams had 11 points and seven rebounds for the Suns, who have won nine of 11 and are nine games over .500 for the first time since the end of the 2023-24 regular season.
Alex Sarr had 19 points and 15 rebounds, Tre Johnson scored 19 points and made three 3-pointers and Bilal Coulibaly added 12 points for the Wizards, who have lost four of five.
The Suns, who led by 32 points in the fourth quarter, gave up their fewest points of the season while only one starter logged more than 26 minutes.
Brooks and Allen had four 3-pointers apiece and the Suns were 17 of 52 from distance, their fifth straight game with at least 14 made threes.
O'Neale has made 18 treys in the last four games and has 115 this season.
The Suns swept the two-game season series for the third straight season. The Wizards did not lead after the first three minutes.
O'Neale and Allen had three 3-pointers apiece in the first half as the Suns opened a 65-50 halftime lead that stretched to 96-67 after three quarters. Brooks had 11 points and three 3-pointers in the third.
The Suns finished with 32 assists on 40 field goals.
Allen's trey with one second left gave the Suns a 32-28 lead after one quarter. Sarr had nine points in the quarter to keep it close.
The Suns had 11 steals, slightly above their 10.4 average, which was tied with Oklahoma City for the league lead.
Brooks received his 13th technical foul of the season when he and Justin Champagne were assessed double-technicals with 4:35 left in the third quarter. Players receive an automatic suspension after a 16th technical.
Trae Young (knee/quad) missed his eighth straight game, his second since being acquired by the Wizards on Friday.
