0 1

NANAIMO, B.C. — [January 9] — The Nanaimo Clippers are thrilled to announce the signing of hometown goaltender Matthew Hutchison.

Hutchison, a Nanaimo, British Columbia native, returns home after gaining significant experience at the major junior level. The 6’3”, left-catching goaltender has appeared in 81 games in the Western Hockey League, most recently with the Regina Pats, bringing maturity, poise, and a strong competitive foundation to the Clippers’ crease.

“We’re excited to add Matthew to our goaltending group,” said Clippers Head Coach and General Manager Colin Birkas. “He’s a Nanaimo product who understands what it means to represent this community. Matthew brings experience and a strong work ethic that will benefit our group both on and off the ice.”

Hutchison expressed his excitement about the opportunity to play in front of his hometown fans.

“I’m really excited to join the Clippers and have the chance to play for my hometown—it’s always been a dream of mine,” said Hutchison. “I’m looking forward to bringing positive energy and experience to the team, and being someone my teammates and coaches can rely on both on and off the ice.”

The Nanaimo Clippers welcome Matthew and his family back to the community and look forward to seeing him take the ice at Frank Crane Arena this season.
