Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers (wrist) out against Bears; Mason Rudolph to start

0 9

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not play Sunday against the Bears in Chicago.

He had been listed as questionable due to a fracture in his left (non-throwing) wrist. The injury occurred last Sunday in the Steelers' 34-12 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Veteran backup Mason Rudolph will start in his place.

"He's not going to play today," Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told CBS Sports Sunday morning. "He fought his tail off all week, but that's the prudent play to make for us as a collective and so he won't be playing this week. We'll let Mason start and, obviously, he's absorbed most of the reps this week."

The 41-year-old Rodgers has completed 66.4% of his passes (192 of 289) for 1,969 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 10 games this season, his first with Pittsburgh (6-4).

Rudolph, 30, has spent five of his six NFL seasons in Pittsburgh. He is 8-4-1 in his 13 starts (24 total games) with the Steelers. In three relief appearances this season, Rudolph is 14-of-18 passing (77.8%) for 139 yards with a touchdown.

His start against the Bears (7-3) will be his first this season.
