Spruce Kings Fall in Overtime to Wrap Road Trip

0 2

Ryder Green made 30 saves but the Cowichan Valley Capitals scored at 2:47 of overtime to knock off the Prince George Spruce Kings 3-2 Saturday night on Vancouver Island.

For the second straight night the Capitals got on the board first as Massimo Fazio beat Green on the glove side off a pass from Junsu Kwak.

The Spruce Kings responded and tied the game up at one when River Arnason poked a loose puck in the crease home after Carter Hesselgrave slid it under the pad of Rhett Stoesser after a Trent LeDrew point shot.

Fazio scored his second of the night at 3:46 of the second period as he took the puck off a missed Gavin Rocha shot that hit the end wall and buried it to give the Caps the lead.

Prince George responded with Dominic Szczygiel’s fourth of the season as Jackson Frosyland found him in the slot at 7:52.

After a scoreless third period, Gavin Nemis got a pass from below the goal line from Trace Frieden and beat Green to win the game.

The Spruce Kings took 7 out of 10 points on their 5-game road trip and return to Kopar Memorial Arena on Friday November 28th to take on the Chilliwack Chiefs.
