Spruce Kings Skate Away with 5-2 Win
The Prince George Spruce Kings won for the first time on the road as they knocked off the Surrey Eagles 5-2 on Saturday night in South Surrey.
The Spruce Kings got on the board first as Marcus Lougheed unleashed a one-timer on the power play from Ozbej Rep and Kazumo Sasaki.
Jackson Froysland scored his first BCHL goal as he buried a loose puck off the end wall from an Isaac Holt point shot as Sasaki placed the puck on a tee for Holt.
The Spruce Kings were 1/3 on the man advantage in the opening frame.
The Eagles would score twice in 1:20 in the second period as Landon Jassman scored off a face-off win, before Easton Jacobs fired one back against the grain after cutting to the right side of the offensive zone.
The Spruce Kings regained the lead at 14:20 as Michael Denney swept the puck past Nathan Claydon, after Lougheed deflected the Evan Bellamy point shot.
In the third, Ryder Green was able to kick away some early chances from the Eagles, before Matthew Keller lifted a puck high in the air over the Eagles defenders to Carter Hesselgrave who scored a beauty upstairs to make it 4-2.
Dominic Szczygiel scored into an empty net at 19:35 as Denney was able to get the puck over while avoiding a Surrey check at center ice.
The Spruce Kings return home for a Saturday night matchup with Salmon Arm. The Silverbacks play in Trail on Wednesday night.
