Chiefs down Spruce Kings 6-2
Mathis Laplante and Dracen Campbell scored for the Spruce Kings but the Chilliwack Chiefs scored six times in between as the Spruce Kings fell 6-2 on Friday night at the Chilliwack Coliseum.
Laplante got the Spruce Kings on the board at 11:07 of the opening frame, as he put his fourth goal of the year in from a tight angle off the end wall. It was a point shot from Ozbej Rep that kicked to Laplante.
Shots were just 6-6 after 20, but the Chiefs responded in the second as Dustin Renas scored to tie the game after a great move around a Spruce Kings defender, beating Colin Reay up high.
The Chiefs would pour it on as the period continued, as Nico Grabas scored at 13:36 on a breakaway and at 18:04 after sustained pressure in the Spruce Kings end.
Easton Schlender scored 19 seconds after Grabas second goal off a deflection to give the Chiefs a 4-1 lead. Shots in the second period were 12-1 Chiefs.
In the third, Darik Olson beat Reay with a wrist shot on a delayed penalty, before Dominic Grieco scored off a breakaway to make it 6-1.
The Spruce Kings power play finished 1/3 on the night as Campbell’s first in the BCHL beat David Di Girolamo from the point with 1:22 remaining in the third from Jackson Froysland aqnd Michael Denney.
The Spruce Kings killed off both their penalties in the game, but were outshot 33-17 on the night.
